David Cleaton-Roberts is a partner at Cristea Roberts Gallery. He joined the gallery in 1998, becoming a director in 2004; he currently oversees the sales team and the gallery’s international art fair programme, as well as coordinating artists’ print projects and looking after a number of artists’ Estates for the gallery including the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, the Estate of Naum Gabo, the Tom Wesselmann Estate and the Patrick Heron Estate.
David holds a BA (Hons) in Art History from UEA and an MA from Manchester University. He served as Vice-President of the IFPDA (International Fine Print Dealers’ Association) and currently sits on the IFPDA Charitable Foundation Board. He sits on the board of the charity Paintings in Hospitals and chairs their Collections Committee. Prior to joining Alan Cristea, David worked at the British Council in Venice and as a specialist in the picture department at Phillips auctioneers in London. He has written and lectured extensively on prints and printmaking and served on the selection committee for the Armory Show, Modern. He has curated numerous exhibitions, lectured and written extensively on prints and printmaking, including catalogues and monographs on Gillian Ayres, Ben Nicholson, Sam Francis, Naum Gabo and Josef Albers.
