Scott is Director of Standards at the British Standards Institution (BSI) where he is responsible for the National Standards Body (NSB), a function appointed by government that supports the interests of UK experts working on consensus standards for business and industry at national, European and international level.
Scott has been a Board Director of the BSI Group since 2012, and recently completed six years as a non-exec Director on the Board of the Port of London Authority. His early career was spent as a lecturer at Cambridge University and Fellow of St Catharine’s College. He spent over twenty years in industry, working on forensic engineering investigations and on infrastructure and built environment projects in the UK and around the world.
Scott was appointed Vice President (policy) for the International Standards Organisation (ISO) in January 2017. Scott is a former Vice President of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers and continues to be Editor-in-Chief of the Academy’s flagship magazine, Ingenia, www.ingenia.org.uk . He was appointed CBE in 2010 for services to engineering.
